Glori Wilder x The Mahaiwe
Since I was a young kid, having been driven weekly back and forth from Northwest Connecticut to Boston, the marquee of the Mahaiwe theater has been at the front of my mind. The huge lights connecting with the dreamer in me, keeping me inspired for the rest of those drives.
Now years later I get to surprise my young self and let her know that her name sat on that marquee, and other young kids and Berkshire locals got to see her shine.
The Mahaiwe recently built a new stage at the fire house next door to the main theater. This listening room is a truly special environment with an artist first mentality, and I got the pleasure of being one of the first artists to grace this new stage; The Indigo Room.
As someone who has been called an Indigo Child for years, it only seems fitting to get to share my deeply emotioned original music on that stage.
As an artist you never know how a show is going to go. You come prepared to put on the best performance you can, wether nobody sits in front of you or you’re playing to a full house.
I got to prepare and unwind for this special moment in the main buildings artist green room, getting to take up space as I manifested and envisioned myself performing to a sold out room at The Mahaiwe main stage. It was empowering.
When I was called to the Indigo Room, waiting backstage while the crew got ready to have me walk on, all I heard was the chatter of a crowded room and felt the excitement rising within myself.
Once the show began, I got to share my songs to an audience who was on the edge of their seat to hear every word I spoke. I felt valued in the stories I write about, and got to feel the energy given back by every one who sat and listened.
It was one of the most special moments I have experienced in my years of performing.
As I shared in the performance, I am a newly independent artist and this feat of performing at the Mahaiwe was due to my own endurance and determination to move my career forward. To bring in a crowded room at such a renown space brought in a confidence that will propel me to continue making these big leaps.
I want to say a big thank you to the Mahaiwe team for creating such a lovely space and environment, as well as the biggest thank you to those who come out to see my shows and support this love of mine.
